I-10 ACCIDENT TODAY

Approximately 3:45 this afternoon, Holmes County Sheriff’s Office received a report of a stolen vehicle out of Ponce de Leon. A deputy in the area encountered the vehicle and observed the the driver driving recklessly.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

When the deputy attempted to initiate a traffic stop, the suspect vehicle refused to stop, and proceeded to take the on ramp to I-10, where the driver continued driving recklessly across the westbound lanes of the interstate, reaching speeds topping 100 mph. At MM90, the driver attempted to cross the median to enter eastbound traffic. At this point, the driver failed to make the turn and the vehicle rotated backwards, hitting 3 other vehicles in the process.

The driver was identified as a female juvenile. She was transported to a local hospital, but no injuries are reported for her or any of the victims involved.

The juvenile is facing charges of aggravated fleeing and attempt to elude, grand theft auto, driving without a license, and reckless driving.
