It started off this morning as Joe Llewellyn who is a realtor with Coldwell Banker in Navarre finished showing homes on a rainy Saturday.
Joe then went to Alphy’s restaurant to have lunch. After eating Joe asked his waitress for the bill. The waitress said “the couple that was sitting behind you paid for lunch.”
Joe is a veteran of the Vietnam War. Joe told me that he has bad memories of when he came back to America after his time in Vietnam. Joe landed at Oakland,California and first had a shave and haircut after the 20 hour flight back home.
When Joe first stepped outside after his shave and haircut he was greeted with nasty comments and names yelled at him by people who were against the war.
Joe could not get over how nice it was to be thanked for his service some 40 years latter.
The hat Joe is wearing in the photo above is a gift from a friend that he recently received as a birthday gift.
Navarre is a special place and who ever the couple is that bought Joe’s lunch are my kind of people.
Next time you see a vet young or old remember that they are not just another Joe but someone really special and take a minute to say thank you for your service!
