LOCAL DANCERS COMPETE IN MOBILE

MOBILE, AL. March 12 – March 14, 2021. A Time to Dance, Navarre, FL, attended LA Dance Magic, a competition and convention tour which offers instruction and adjudication by the country’s leading dance professionals and choreographers. Dancers earned multiple accolades for their performances throughout both the competitive and convention portions of the weekend. 

All competitive routines and scholarship recipients were adjudicated and/or taught by LA Dance Magic Tour Faculty including but not limited to Julie Kay Stallcup, Scott Fowler, and Jason E. Bernard. Students were adjudicated by the following criteria: technique, performance, choreography & musicality, and professional appearance. 

A Time to Dance students were recognized and rewarded for their efforts throughout the weekend. Awards were given as listed. Mini Jazz Group “Spice Girls” danced by Emma Buck, Sabrina Dickes, Georgia Hepler, Savannah Hepler, Maci Hogan, Avalon Holt, and Sadie Mandel  and choreographed by Jessica Sarli, was awarded a High Gold, placed 1st in their Jazz Mini Group category, and placed 4th overall against all competing Mini Groups.

Teen Lyrical small group “What the World Needs Now” danced by Sara Brogan, Janey Frost, Sophie Hollinger, and India Voit, and choreographed by Alex Brasell, was awarded a Double Platinum, placed 1st in their Teen Lyrical Group Category and won 1st overall against all competing teen groups. The Junior Prep Duo “About that Walk” danced by Savannah Hepler and Sophie Hollinger, and choreographed by Katie Sneed was awarded a Platinum, placed 1st in its Junior Prep Duo/Trio category and placed 2nd overall against all competing Junior Prep Duo/Trios. Teen Jazz and Lyrical Soloist, Sara Brogan, was awarded a Platinum for both of her dances, and placed 1st in her Teen Lyrical Solo category with “The Light that Never Fails” choreographed by Alex Brasell. Junior Lyrical and Hip-Hop soloist, Sophie Hollinger, was awarded Platinums for both of her pieces, she placed 2nd in her Teen Lyrical Solo category with “Fly” choreographed by Mallauri Hansen and placed 1st and in her Teen Hip- Hop Solo category with “Lose Control” choreographed by Lance Washington. Sophie placed both 5th overall for her Lyrical solo and 3rd overall for her hip-hop solo against all other competing Junior solos and was honored with the LA Dance Magic Junior Miss title. Teen Lyrical soloist, Janey Frost, was awarded a Platinum for “Still Have Me” choreographed by Lauren Saltzman. Teen soloist, India Voit, was awarded a Platinum for “Super Market Flowers” choreographed by Jessica Sarli. Junior Lyrical Soloist, Savannah Hepler, was awarded a High Gold and placed 1st in her Junior Prep Lyrical Solo category with “A Million Dreams” choreographed by Jessica Sarli, she also placed top overall against all competing Junior Soloists. Mini dancer, Kendall Aycock, relieved a Magic Minis scholarship for her hard work in her convention classes throughout the weekend. 

A Time to Dance was established in 2005 and is located in Navarre, Florida. This school provides training for recreational, competitive, and pre-professional dancers, ages 2-18.
