As an Air Force Veteran and proud American, Scott loved caring for his community.

He made it his mission to get abandoned and derelict vessels out of Blackwater River, making boating safer for everyone. This passion led him to become a founding member of “Blackwater Pyrates,” which now has more than 200 members dedicated to preserving local maritime history and keeping the Blackwater River clean.

He also partnered with Blackwater Maritime Heritage Trail to develop the scenery around Bagdad’s Mill Site Park and planted many trees.

Although he previously received numerous prestigious awards and recognitions (including the Presidential Certification for Honorable Service and even President Ronald Reagan’s jellybean dish)— Scott’s most significant honor was the joy he felt by helping others.

Tom leaves a large footprint on the entire Milton area and a legacy of laughter, love, and community service.

Scott’s memorial service will be held at Veteran’s Memorial Plaza in downtown Milton at 2 PM on February 12th, 2023.
