
Culver’s held a national contest for local communities to select a person who goes the extra mile to make a difference in their town.
25 finalist were selected from all the nominees and a voting process began for the “Portrait of a Hero”. Over 10,000 votes were cast nationally and 1,100 votes went to the winner Michelle Abrams co-founder of Navarre Weekend Food Program.
The National Weekend Food Program provides food for hundreds of children who may not have enough food to eat over the weekend in Navarre. The program is completely funded by donations , help from local business and volunteers.
Food bags are packed up Thursday nights at NYSA gym and delevered to local schools the next morning.The program feeds about 400 children each week.
Culver’s in Navarre which is owned by Honey and Randy Smith hosted the presentation today to Michelle Abrams. Craig Culver who is the co-founder of Culver’s presented Michelle with a check for $500.00 that is to be donated to a charity of her choosing and a Culver’s gift card in the amount of $500.00.
