SHOOTING INCIDENT IN OKALOOSA ONE DEAD

Okaloosa County Sheriff’s Office Investigators have spent the day interviewing witnesses and collecting evidence in connection with a fatal shooting on Okaloosa Island Wednesday morning.

32-year old Dustin Edward Jones of Valparaiso died after suffering a gunshot wound to the chest around 5 a.m. in the parking lot of a condominium complex off Santa Rosa Boulevard.

Investigators say a disturbance began outside the Red Rose Gentleman’s Club and spilled over into a parking lot across the street.

A 27-year old off-duty Escambia County Sheriff’s deputy was involved in the shooting and suffered a gunshot wound to the arm. A third individual, a 21-year old Fort Walton Beach resident, was shot once in the leg. Both were taken to Fort Walton Beach Medical Center for treatment of non-life-threatening injuries.

Investigators, who are working to piece together the sequence of events, have received conflicting information and are working to verify the facts before issuing additional news releases.
