All libraries will be closed on Thursday, April 28 for staff training. No items will be due on this day. Items may be left in the book drop or returned when the libraries are open.
Tax Aide
Volunteers from AARP Tax-Aide will be assisting with taxes at three Santa Rosa County libraries. The AARP Tax-Aide program is the nation’s largest free, volunteer-run tax preparation and assistance service, providing service to millions of low- and middle-income taxpayers, with special attention to those ages 60 and older. Patrons are served on a first come-first served basis. Preregistration is not accepted and space is limited, so arrive early! Storytime
Storytime programs are presented for preschool children ages 3-5 and include stories, finger plays, and action rhymes. Caregivers must remain in the library during storytime; however, they cannot accompany children into the programs. In consideration of all participants, programs will start promptly at the assigned times. In order to minimize distractions, latecomers will not be admitted.
If this will be your first storytime visit, we invite you to come to the library before your first adventure to meet your storytime presenter, pick up a welcome packet, explore our children’s area, and enjoy a tour of the library!
Storytime will be presented during the following times from March 21 through April 29:
- 11 – 11:30 a.m. on Mondays at the Jay Library
- 11 – 11:30 a.m. or 1 – 1:30 p.m. on Tuesdays at the Navarre Library
- 11:15 – 11:45 a.m. on Wednesdays at the Milton Library
- 11:15 – 11:45 a.m. on Wednesdays at the Gulf Breeze Library
- 11 – 11:30 a.m. on Fridays at the Pace Library

Genealogy Research Assistance – Milton Library
Mondays 9 a.m. – noon
On Mondays from 9 a.m. until noon, library volunteers are available at the Milton Library located at 5541 Alabama Street, to provide general genealogy research guidance; one-on-one assistance in using online and print genealogy resources for family researchers; and assistance in filling out ancestral charts and family group records. Beginners and seasoned researchers are invited to use these services. To ensure a volunteer is available to assist you, please call before you visit.
Relaxing With Coloring – Gulf Breeze Library
Looking for a way to reduce some stress, relax, and release your creativity? Join us for an hour of morning of fun on the first Friday of every month at 10 a.m. Coloring is for the young and the young at heart. This program is free and open to adults 18 and older. Advance registration is not required. Supplies and coffee are provided, but you are welcome to bring your own. The Gulf Breeze Library is located at 1060 Shoreline Drive.
Friends of the Gulf Breeze Library Book Sale – April 1-2
Join the Friends of the Gulf Breeze Library for our annual Spring Book Sale in the Gulf Breeze Library meeting room. Sale dates are Friday, April 1 from 5 – 7 p.m. and Saturday, April 2 from 9 a.m. – 3 p.m. There is something for everyone, so check us out. This event is free and open to the public. Family Movie Favorites – Jay Library
Meet at the Jay Library on the first Tuesday of every month at 5 p.m. and enjoy a Family Movie Favorite. This month, flash back to the 1964 World’s Fair when a ride suddenly whisks a boy who came there with a homemade jet pack hoping to win an inventor’s contest, into a utopian future. Page Turners Book Club – Gulf Breeze Library
Join us in the Gulf Breeze Library study room for our fiction book club. Page Turners meets at 10:30 a.m. on the second Friday of every other month. This month’s selection is “My Real Children” by Jo Walton. There is a limit of 20 participants, so please call the library or drop by to sign up! Bereavement Support – Navarre Library
April 8 and 22, 11:30 a.m. – 12:30 p.m.
Meeting are held at the Navarre Library on the second and fourth Fridays from 11:30 a.m. – 12:30 p.m. The sessions address grief support and offer assistance, love and listening ears to those grieving the loss of a loved one. All materials are provided and registration is not required. The Navarre Library is located at 8484 James M. Harvell Road.
READ Dogs – Pace Library
Come, Sit, Stay & Read with a furry friend in the Pace Library. Registration is required. The program is held on the second Saturday of each month at the Pace Library located at 4750 Pace Patriot Boulevard. Contact the Pace Library for more information or to sign up.

This month’s matinee is a romantic movie in which a Chicago playwright uses self-hypnosis to find the actress whose vintage portrait hangs in a grand hotel. Third Fridays with UF/IFAS Extension – Gulf Breeze Library
The University of Florida Institute of Food and Agricultural Services presents a monthly series on a variety of interesting topics with solutions for your life.They can provide information about agriculture, the environment, sustainable living, disaster preparation and recovery, 4-H youth development, family and consumer issues, and lawn and garden problems. Animation Club – Gulf Breeze Library
Learn and share graphic art skills in a fun environment on the third Tuesday of each month. The Animation Club is dedicated to the enjoyment and promotion of animation, cartooning, and related arts. Bring your art, discuss techniques of drawing, cartooning, anime and manga art, as well as your favorite title and artists in those genres. The Animation Club is open to youth in grades 6 – 8. Graphic Novel Book Club – Milton Library
Join fellow graphic novel enthusiasts at the Milton Library on the third Tuesday each month to discuss the book of the month. This club will be enjoyed by the new and seasoned graphic novel reader. Members can suggest reading ideas, interests, and discuss the world of the graphic novel. This month’s title is “Ms. Marvel Volume 1: No Normal” by G. Willow Wilson. Hospice Hour – Navarre Library
Melissa Tidwell of Emerald Coast Hospice explains how hospice and home health care services work, what types of services are provided, and when hospice or home health care services might be beneficial. The Navarre Library is located at 8484 James M. Harvell Road.
Friends of the Navarre Library Book Sale – April 22-23
The Friends of the Navarre Library will hold a book sale Friday and Saturday in the meeting room of the library. Hours are: Friday 9 a.m. – 5 p.m. and Saturday 9 a.m. – 1 p.m. A variety of books will be available. Support your local Friends group and consider becoming a member!

Preservation Week – April 24 – 30
Stop by any of the Santa Rosa County libraries to see displays that will show you how to care for library materials. Libraries are located in Gulf Breeze, Jay, Milton, Navarre, and Pace.
Bibliobabblers Teen Book Club – Gulf Breeze Library
Teens in 9-12th grade who are 14-18 year olds can take a break from homework and school to hangout and discuss the read-of-the-month with friends at the library. Bibliobabblers meets at 6 p.m. on the last Tuesday of every other month in the Gulf Breeze Library meeting room. This month’s book is “The Book Thief” by Markus Zusak.
