SRC might see some gas tax reduction

A growing number of governors and state lawmakers across the U.S. are calling for the suspension of gas taxes to provide relief to motorists, Santa Rosa County Board of County Commissioners are going to keep an eye on what our Governor does.

Santa Rosa County’s gas tax doubled on New Year’s Day: 2016 $0.06 to the maximum $0.12 per gallon.

At the time Commission Chairman Don Salter said the need emerged from the loss of road project money from the Florida Department of Transportation’s Small County Outreach Program [SCOP] Thanks to Jayer Williamson we are now back in the SCOP program as of 2021

Florida lawmakers plan to suspend collection of the state’s gas tax in October, saving motorists about 27 cents for every gallon of fuel they buy.

District 2 candidate Rickie Cotton Jr said “Right now with near record inflation and soaring gas prices on top of the substantial increases in electricity bills from FP&L the citizens are hurting.We should try to provide a little bit of relief for the people of Santa Rosa county”
