In a press conference this morning it was announced that Jeffrey Perkins a sergeant with SRSO who worked in Navarre was arrested last Friday of charges of aggravated assault, domestic violence and reckless display of a firearm. A search warrant for his cellphone produced evidence that brought on 8 counts of possession of child porn.
Perkins is in custody in Escambia County and will appear in court this afternoon.
Perkins has been a sworn law enforcement officer with SRSO since 2009 and had no disciplinary actions before Friday’s arrest. Bob Johnson said Perkins is being terminated today due to his arrest.
Bill Eddins State Attorney said his office will be seeking prison time for Perkins.
Navarre Newspaper reminds our viewers that Jeffrey Perkins is presumed innocent unless found guilty in a court of law.
