Teen Arrested for Panhandle Trail Shooting

On 02-21-19, deputies with the Santa Rosa County Sheriff’s Office responded to Gulf Breeze Hospital in reference to a gunshot victim.

The victim, identified as Callen Nation, told deputies he had been shot in the foot by a “Tyrese” at his home on Panhandle Trail in Navarre as he attempted to loan money to another person identified as “Tyler” in the room.

Deputies later identified “Tyrese” as Antwan Nelson (DOB: 7/18/2000).

Callen told deputies Antwan ran out of the room and pointed the pistol at two others in the residence. Another shot was fired from the gun, but no one was injured.

Callen told deputies Antwan was forced to leave by those in the home, and then tried to leave with “Tyler’s” vehicle, but they were able to take the keys from him.

Deputies located Antwan and transported him to the Sheriff’s Office in Navarre for questioning.

Antwan Nelson was later arrested and charged with the following:

▪ 2 counts of Aggravated Assault (3rd Degree Felony)
▪ Aggravated Battery (2nd Degree Felony)
▪ Attempted Robbery

He was taken to the Santa Rosa County Jail and booked on $65,000 bond.

Navarre Newspaper reminds our readers that Antwan Nelson is presumed innocent unless found guilty in a court of law.
