Gulf Power is alerting its customers of a recent telephone scam.
They say a person claiming to represent them is calling area businesses and telling them their bill is past due. They are demanding payment, or their service will be cut off.
Gulf Power wants customers to know that employees will never call customers at home seeking personal information, representatives will never ask a customer for money when visiting a residence or business, and all Gulf Power representatives carry badges with picture identification.
