WHY PINE STREET ?

Rob Williamson
COMMISSIONER ROB WILLIAMSON

County Commissioner Rob Williamson explained why he believes the Pine Street location makes sense for the new courthouse bldg. in Milton.

“Pine Street answers more of the obstacles that have historically kept the courthouse project from succeeding than any other site ever considered.
Here are a few of the benefits of the Pine Street location:
Santa Rosa County does NOT need to buy property, there is room for future expansion, there is room for secure parking. This site moves traffic away from Highway 90, this site ensures there will be no interruption in court services while construction progresses, the new building will be constructed above the floodplain and has sufficient room for storm water retention, construction costs will be reduced because staging of construction materials will be safer and easier.
The Pine St location allows jobs and businesses related to judicial services to remain in the urban core of central Santa Rosa County providing a foundation from which to grow.
This site frees up the valuable central parcels in downtown Milton for development to attract the next generation. and future widening of Highway 90.
This is not a City of Milton project, this is a Santa Rosa County project.
For us to move on together as a county, we must put this project behind us.
We will begin construction on the next Judicial Complex by December 31, 2016″
