Milton vintage car clubs and the Crestview Spanish Trail Cruisers will lead a motorcade of auto enthusiasts through Santa Rosa County on Sat., Dec. 3 as part of the centennial reenactment of the Old Spanish Trail (OST) 1916 Pensacola Convention.
The route begins at 10 am. in Floridatown Park where autos arrived by ferry from Pensacola in 1916. The motorcade will stop at the Imogene Theater at 11 a.m, where participants will present County Commissioner Bob Cole with 1920s artwork designating Santa Rosa as an “Official OST County.” At 11:30 a.m., the cars will continue along U.S. 90 to east Milton where the Works Progress Administration bridge and original OST red brick road in east Milton has been preserved and restored for recreational use.
The motorcade is hosted by the Santa Rosa Historical Society as part of the larger OST100 centennial event. The OST100 works to locate, revitalize and preserve the roadway, businesses and historic sites of the original 1920s OST. contact Charlotte Kahl, 210-838-5243.
