Tonight Santa Rosa County Commissioners voted 3-2 to remove protection of the Well Field Protection Area. This protection was put in place by the County Commissioners 7 years ago. The wells currently supplies water for over 86,000 residents of South Santa Rosa County.
Another public hearing is required and will take place in the first quarter of 2021.
Commissioner Colten Wright and Commissioner Dave Piech voted against removing the protection . Commissioner Sam Parker, Commissioner Bob Cole and Commissioner James Calkins voted to remove the protection.
