ENGINE FAILS EMERGENCY LANDING IN FIELD

A Cessna Cardinal 177 single-engine aircraft with one soul on board departed Destin Executive Airport (DTS)  enroute to Bob Sikes Airport (CEW) to conduct Instrument approaches.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

The pilot experience engine failure and declared an inflight emergency.

He was able to put the aircraft down in a field just north of Possum Ridge Road in Crestview.

The pilot was alert and conscious when first responders arrived.

He was transported to North Okaloosa Hospital with minor injuries for further evaluation.

Sheriff’s Office will secure the scene pending notification to the FAA and NTSB.
