April 14, 2021. Just before 3 AM the Holley-Navarre Fire District was alerted for a residential structure fire in the 8900 block of Orlando Ave. Engine 45, Engine 41, HNFD Chiefs responded, as well as Navarre Beach- Ladder 49, Midway- Engine 37 and Florosa- Truck 5.

The caller to 911 advised that the house was filled with smoke and that fire was coming from the area of a gas grill on the lanai in the rear of the residence. All the occupants were reported out of the structure

Engine 45 arrived on scene first and advising all units of a single-story residential structure with smoke showing from the rear of the structure, Engine 45 crew then reported a working fire on the lanai with extension in the walls and attic space and initiated an aggressive offensive attack.

The fire was quickly contained to the lanai and portion of the attic space, the fire was called under control at 3:12 AM and fully extinguished at 3:36 AM. The 5,700 square foot home sustained major smoke damage throughout. The occupants were displaced from the residence and being assisted by their neighbors. The occupants were also checked by EMS and released; no other injuries were reported.

An initial investigation was conducted, the origin of the fire was centered around the built-in grill/cooking area connected to a natural gas line. It is undetermined at this time as to the exact cause of the fire but it does not appear to be malicious in nature.
