There are two local groups working diligently to raise funds in memory of the tragic Black Hawk training accident on March 10, 2015.
Leadership Santa Rosa Class 29 is building a memorial to pay tribute to the Soldiers and Marines of the Black Hawk accident, and to All members of the Armed Forces who have made the ultimate sacrifice in service to our Country. The second group is led by dedicated community volunteers who are planning a public remembrance ceremony. “Remembering the Black Hawk 11” will be held on the one year anniversary in Navarre, Florida for the loved ones of those who perished that fateful night. In addition to the Memorial and Remembering the Black Hawk 11, there will be a 770 mile Marine Raider Memorial March, from Navarre, Florida to Camp Lejune, North Carolina. The ruck march is being led by Marine Staff Sgt. Nathan Harris, attached to the 2nd Marine Raider Battalion.
